New custom headers are popping up everywhere in the City of Voices.
Not only can you customize the banners on the new theme, Tarski, but
you can center, left align or right align your Vox. Also, you can place the
sidebar on the right or the left. The new look is a warm, clean and simple
look that is quick becoming a favorite among Voxers.

Ansus Berkana [in the above video] reminds us of a couple of fundamentals that are necessary for finding your way around the city. Stuff like, “Where do I login now?” You know the “rocket science” of being a Voxtropolitan.

Enjoy.

Welcome Back

Voxtropolis was upgraded last night. Check out my new custom made header. Your Vox now has audio mp3 support as well as video tools.

Steps for using the new Customizable header can be found on the City of Voices. It’s easy and fun.

You should also notice that you can enable a “snap preview” tool in the “Extras” area. This tool allows you to roll over a link and catch a miniature snap shot of the site.

Undoubtedly there will be a bug here and there. Report any problems to support.voxtropolis.com.

Enjoy.

VOXTROPOLIS will be offline this SATURDAY NIGHT for a scheduled UPGRADE.
See you on the other side.

For those of you who have been patiently waiting…
Voxtropolis will be temporarily unavailable this weekend [Saturday Night] for a scheduled upgrade.
This “Refresh” will enable customizable headers on select Voxscapes,
flicker support, media support (YouTube, mp3, etc), akismet spam blocker on all Voxs,
and social network plugins (diggs, del.icio.us, etc), snap previews, and more. Woohoo…

Global Warming?

Another Voxtropolitan Worth Reading

Does mankind “cause” global warming? Can we effect the warming trend by our actions? Voxtropolitan, Dave Kludt, [”Can’t Catch My Breath”] takes the issue on. Check out the conversation brewing there and add a comment.

VOX NEWS

PODCAST: March 15, 2007 with Manus, Keith Whittingham, and Mark Marsden.

Conversation is highly valued here at the City of Voices. What Voxtropolitan do you see appearing frequently in either your comment section or the comment section of others? Give them kudos and a shout out HERE. Instead of only counting how many comments we receive, let’s count how many we give.

BUILD A VILLAGE

Happy news. Voxtropolis.com completes it’s first BUILD A VILLAGE effort. The funds to build the well for the Potok people of northern Kenya have been fully raised. Congratulations to Voxtropolitan, Mike Harris, who was compelled to make this happen.

Adding to Mike’s personal efforts were Vox Studios-Ventura County who held BUILD A VILLAGE benefit concerts for the effort. I know this team personally and would follow them anywhere. Way to go, guys. Voxtropolitan, Dean Sharp, the cultural architect behind the voxtropolis culture pub in the Thousand Oaks area of Southern California, was able to bring the final amount when someone casually asked, “So what’s new, Dean?” The result was a check for the remaining amount.

Voxtropolis hot spot in Ocoee, Florida, House Blend Cafe, also chipped in by hosting the Voxtropolis World Music Jam that also benefitted the Build A Village emphasis with the Potok. House Blend Cafe, you rock. The video inside the cafe area was shot at House Blend Last month.

What’s next for BUILD A VILLAGE?

We’re beginning to research how we might sponsor a displaced person in Darfur, help an aids orphan in South Africa, and/or sponsor a runner who’s raising money for a house for the poor. We’ll let you know as soon as the details are firm. For information on how to help the BUILD A VILLAGE efforts of Voxtropolis.com, email us at alex@voxtropolis.com.

Voxtropolitan Jen Swinburne posts about a day in the life of a mom. In her post she tells us she was inspired by another Voxtropolitan named Deana (aka obahsomah).

As part of that conversation, Voxtropolitan
Nozza makes a great suggestion. Nozza’s idea is to have a Voxtropolis Award recognizing the Voxtropolitan who comments the most or best within Voxtropolitan circles. What a great idea. Who would you nominate as a great “commentor” on your vox? [By the way, I’ve linked to a post by Nozza that is titled “Sophie’s First Taste of Carrots” that has an absolutely adorable photo of Nozza’s five month old daughter.]

In the same conversation Voxtropolitan, Sam Radford, who lauded Nozza’s idea wonders why the Americans say “mom” and the brits say “mum”.

New Login Page

In case you haven’t noticed, the new login page is here at voxtropolis.com. The old login page
which can still be accessed at voxtropolis.com/wp-login will be disappearing soon. For those of you
who are still not using this new arrival page to login, you will experience a mild feeling of disorientation.
Take a couple of aspirin, breathe slowly, sit down. Slowly a feeling of euphoria will come upon you
as you remember that the new login is located on the bottom right hand side of this new arrival page.
Welcome to the future. Stay tuned. There’s lots more fun coming up.

For video of the event enter the cafe area. Imagine now what it would be like for you to take your pilgrimage to the VWMJ next year. Imagine connecting f2f for the first time with voxtropolitans that you’ve “met” here in the City of Voices. Pouring a dark ale, tasting a new wine or nursing a familiar latte with friends, listening to raw new talent and bands, and talking about all things taboo like religion and politics. Imagine laughing until it hurts. Can you see it? See you there.

Voxtropolitan, Mike Singletary, serves on a church staff in Enterprise, Alabama where the Tornadoes hit yesterday [Thursday, March 1]. One of the high school students from his church youth group is counted among the fatalities. He’s there on the field and has requested prayer. Those of you who know how to do that, this would be the time. After all, regardless of our religion, we’re all connected because we’re here …at voxtropolis.com.
